jj white
Though jj white was born in the “Paris of the prairies”, it’s hard to put a finger on where this Canadian artist reins from musically. He’s a proud chameleon of many genres and a true believer in blurring the lines that typically confine an artist into a single category.
jj studied voice at Humber's Jazz and Contemporary music program located in Toronto. There he was able to study and perform with some of the finest Canadian musicians including Shannon Gunn, Mark Kelso and Hilario Duran. This experience, in what jj considered “The big city”, influenced his music immensely. After graduating from his Bachelors of Music, jj received several awards, including the “Thomas Kehoe award”, the “Yamaha Canada Award” and Humber's coveted “Studio Award”. Once convocated, jj decided to move back to his homeland of the prairies where he continued to write and perform with bands including Mo'Love, Vultures and his personally curated band, jj White & The Release. Saskatoon has become well known around the world for it’s vibrant music scene, and has been the ideal environment for jj to hone his style as an artist. Fan's have often commented on the dynamic range and the vocal control White delivers. Some performance highlights include playing Saskatchewan Jazz fest in 2016 & 2017 with jj white & The Release as well with Mo'Love, Playing Backwards Ness 2017, opening for Sean Kingston, Danny Fernandez and playing alongside Mike Stern and New York Voices.
It is at this point in jj's musical career where he feels it is time to release his own debut album. This urge for creation and self reflection influenced jj to set aside time back in 2018 to write what would become his debut album soon to be entitled "Rewind". An eight song album inspired by personal hardships and fuelled by all his past musical experiences.

“So I’ll throw in a rock, create a ripple effect...
Some of you will remember me, and some of you will forget. ”
“When I close my eyes at night I can see it in the dark,
It’s nothing physical, more like something spiritual..
Hearing you whisper in my ear, that I believe in ya.”
“Read my pages I’m an open book... oh, you had me with one look.”
“I will put in the work, drag my feet through the dirt,
Just to pave the way for my love and drive straight to you”
